re Greyhound Muzzles; Cheers Mate, I do have one of those plastic muzzles that I got for my first Greyhound (Schniff). Schniff was a typical softie and never wore his muzzle. I’d take it with me but he was such a good natured lad that he never needed to wear it. Although it is true that it is law in most Australian States that Greyhounds must wear muzzles and be leashed in all public areas. My current hounds wear the racing muzzles mainly because they are very light, easy to get on & off, and keep them cool. People only tend to notice them when they get close. To be honest I think Cami (my female) would always need to wear a muzzle. She has a ‘thing’ for other dogs (except other Greyhounds) and she can be a bit snappy. Jakka is just a goof. Taking them out together I feel a bit more secure knowing they’re muzzled. I’m amazed how many other dog-owners let their dogs run free, off lead on footpaths in non-dog parks etc. I don’t want my pair blamed for snapping or … off on a tangent there. unkamatt: This is Amtrak, an older foster I had.  This post is for Spiffo, though, specifically.  Spiffo lives in Australia, and has Greyhounds as well.  They are adorable, but according to Australian law, they have to wear their muzzles when out in public.  Those of us with Greyhounds know this is silly, based on how sweet and docile the dogs are… but nonetheless, Spiffo follows the law.  I just think the metal ones don’t look as comfortable on their faces, that’s all.  Of course, if the hounds are used to it, then it’s obviously not a big deal.  I mentioned a softer type muzzle, this is what we use in the States, for a visual. If you’d like to try them Spiffo, let me know, I’ll see if I can’t send you two. If anyone is curious about this type of muzzle, the dogs can still drink water easily through these, and Jax always gets a bit excited when he sees his muzzle, even though he no longer has to wear it.
